TSMC Starts Apple A11 Chip Production For The iPhone 8

The new iPhone 8 smartphones will get a new processor, the Apple A11 and according to a recent report, TSMC has started production of the chip.

The news comes in a report from Digitimes who have revealed that TSMC are producing the Apple A11 processor for the iPhone 8 using the 10nm process.

TSMC has begun 10nm chip production for Appleā€™s next-generation iPhone 8 series, the sources said. Production was once affected by issues involving stacking components in the backend integrated fan-out packaging process, but they have already been solved, the sources said.

There will be three different versions of the iPhone 8 this year, a 4.7 inch model with an LCD display, a 5.5 inch model with an LCD display and a new 5.8 inch model with an OLED display.

As well as the new A11 processor, the new iPhone 8 handsets will also get more RAM than the current models and also new cameras.

The design of the handset is also changing, Apple are said to use a stainless steel chassis with a glass back for this years iPhones

Recent rumors have suggested that the new iPhones will be made official in September and Apple will start taking preorders on the same month, the device will apparently hit the retail stores in early October.
